First aid programs teach students a variety of first aid skills needed in a variety of emergency situations. The course curriculum of the program includes wound care, injury management and stabilization, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED) among other topics. AEDs are machines that are attached to the chest with pads and supply the heart with electrical shock.

Stand-alone CPR/AED classes are available in three levels: A, C, and HCP.
Barrier Devices - Gloves in Lethbridge first aid
Gloves are an essential part of first aid because they protect both the victim and the rescuer from microorganisms that can be detrimental to health.

The levels are 4, 5, and 6 hours long respectively. A and C are for first-time trainees while HCP is for health care providers. A includes training in CPR and AED for adult victims. C and HCP include both adult and pediatric CPR and AED.

You can book instructors for private training at home.

You can also book instructors for special training for conferences and workshops. Instructors are all certified by St Mark James to maintain quality training. They have different rates and schedules so just send an e-mail or give them a call to inquire about them.

Certification is given after a student passes a call.

To pass, a student needs a 75 percent on the written exam, good skill demonstration, and complete attendance. Certificate cards are given to all students when they pass but wall-mount certificates are available upon request. Certificates are only valid for three years but some can be renewed through recertification programs as long as they are current. Standard first aid recertification is 8 hours long, held twice a week, and inclusive of CPR level recertification.
